Plumbing Services May 19, 2011

You get home after a long day and there is no hot water.  You immediately pick up the phone and call a plumber.  It is after hours, so you pay extra for the tech to come out.  He walks in checks the heater, one minute later tells you he fixed it and charges you $100.00. Sound familiar?

At A+ Plumbing Professionals, we want your business, but we do not want to take your money for something that you could easily do yourself.  Our goal is to help you however we can while saving you money wherever we can.  If the problem is as simple as flipping a switch, then we would rather help you find and flip the switch over the phone than send a tech out for a two minutes of work.

If you find that you have no hot water, the first thing that you want to check is the breaker for your electric water heater.  If everything is properly labeled, you should be able to easily locate the breaker named “water heater” or “hot water heater”. Once you have located the breaker, switch it to the “off” position then push it back to the “on” position.  On most hot water heaters, you should begin to hear the water sizzling inside the water heater when you put your ear close if this was the problem.  If you don’t hear anything, wait about fifteen minutes and turn on a hot water faucet in the house.  If the heater is working, you should be getting warm water within a minute.  If there is no change in the water temperature, then you should call a licensed plumbing company like A+ Plumbing Professionals.
